The jury appreciated the developer for implementing the idea of responsible business and promoting a pro-ecological attitude. The ceremonial gala during which the award was presented took place on November 27 in Warsaw.

The Sustainable Economy Awards competition is organized by the Executive Club - a business organization bringing together representatives of top management representing the most important Polish and international companies. Its jury consists of outstanding personalities involved in the area of sustainable development.

The jury decided that SEGRO is a company that promotes activities leading to the development of sustainable construction and implements investments in accordance with the highest environmental and social standards. The developer, manager and owner of warehouse and production space has been implementing new projects for years and manages its portfolio with care for the natural environment. One of the determinants here is the BREEAM certification, to which all newly built SEGRO warehouse facilities are subjected. The company can boast of a Very Good rating for the distribution center realized for LPP at SEGRO Logistics Park Stryków or for the Volkswagen Group Polska center located at SEGRO Logistics Park Poznań, Komorniki.

- The Sustainable Economy Awards is a great honor and a reason to be proud of us. It is also a driving force for further actions in the spirit of sustainable development. Mature business is a socially responsible business. At SEGRO, we try to prove at every step that taking care of the natural environment is our great, shared responsibility - says Magdalena Szulc, SEGRO's Director for Central Europe.

The ecological approach is visible in the developer's activities already at the design stage, when it is possible, inter alia, to plan greater access to daylight through, for example, fully glazed gates or a glazed office part, which not only affects the comfort of employees, but also reduces electricity consumption. The use of modern materials in the entire body of the building allows, in turn, for easier maintenance of the correct temperature in the facility. As a result, in winter, the building does not lose heat quickly, and in summer it does not overheat excessively from the outside. In the long term, this allows you to optimize the costs associated with heating and cooling the warehouse.

For several years, the standard in newly built SEGRO facilities has been the wide use of ecological LED lighting, both inside and outside buildings. In some interiors, it is additionally controlled by the DALI system, which, thanks to motion sensors, allows you to adjust the light intensity. The pro-ecological solutions implemented in SEGRO parks also include the media monitoring system in the cloud, which helps to achieve savings in the consumption of electricity or gas, and the effective water distribution system used in selected investments, allowing to reduce its consumption by as much as 10%.

Acting for the sake of the natural environment and in line with the upcoming technological revolution, SEGRO has already invested in charging stations for electric vehicles in all its logistics parks. In total, there are 26 devices of this type in them. More than half of the chargers can simultaneously charge two vehicles with a power of 22 kW each. The stations are equipped with modules for remote billing of energy consumed and monitoring the charging statuses of cars currently connected to the charger using the application.
