Moving the dial
Many of our customers share with SEGRO an environmental sustainability strategy as a key focus of their business.
To help assist our customers achieve their own Sustainability targets, as of 2022 our new standard for developments over 5,000 sq m is BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and where possible we look to include solar panels and LED lighting as part of their base design. We are also working with customers across the business to install smart sensors into their buildings to help them better understand their building performance and reduce energy consumption.
Long-term engagement and ambitious partnership with local communities, customers, partners and suppliers will continue to be key as we bring our Responsible SEGRO framework to life as part of a wider vision, both for today’s challenges and for the decades to come.
Space to give
To enable our people to support causes close to their hearts through their time and skills, we created our company-wide ‘Day of Giving’. It allows every team member to volunteer to support a cause personal to them or their team, or work with one of our partner charities or community groups.
In 2021, 234 employees took part in the Day of Giving. Activities included planting trees, collecting rubbish, packaging food parcels, riverside and environmental clearances and painting hospital gardens. Beyond the Day of Giving, our people run, cycle, swim, skydive, walk and sleep out overnight to raise money for a wide range of great causes for which SEGRO will match the funds raised.
